Doctors

Dr. Brianna Cormier

Medical Director, Veterinarian

Dr. Brianna Cormier has been with MAVA since August 2021 and brings over 17 years of experience. A Howard County native, she earned her Biology degree at the University of Pennsylvania, where she played Division 1 basketball, and her DVM from Tuskegee University.

She’s held many roles—assistant, researcher, and now Medical Director. Dr. Cormier values education, teamwork, and seeing sick pets recover.

Outside of work, she enjoys hiking, running, and powerlifting. Her furry crew includes Catahoula Leopard Dogs Mable and Micah, Tux the GSP, and Oliver the orange tabby—affectionately known as “Fat Fat.”

Dr. Liz Passmore

Associate Veterinarian

Dr. Liz Passmore joined Mount Airy Veterinary Associates in November 2023. A Maryland native, she earned her degree in Animal Sciences from the University of Maryland, College Park, and her DVM from the Virginia-Maryland College of Veterinary Medicine. Since graduating in 2014, she has worked as a small animal general practitioner in Maryland and North Carolina.

Dr. Passmore enjoys the challenge of veterinary medicine and the opportunity to help both pets and their people. She loves working alongside a supportive, fun-loving team.

Outside work, she enjoys spending time outdoors with her kids, her horse, her Irish Setter, Reagan, and her senior cat, Sam.

Dr. Anne Hicks

Associate Veterinarian

Dr. Anne Hicks brings years of experience and a gentle approach to MAVA every Monday. She’s passionate about internal medicine and preventive care, and she enjoys helping pets live longer, healthier lives. Known for her calm demeanor, Dr. Hicks builds lasting connections with clients and patients.

Her favorite part of veterinary medicine is finding the right treatment and seeing pets thrive. Outside of work, she enjoys reading, football, baseball, and dreams of traveling to Australia. She shares her home with her English Cream Golden Retriever, Samson, and is a strong advocate for senior pet care.

Practice Manager

Rachael Graser

Rachael joined Mount Airy Veterinary Associates in 2021 and became Practice Manager in 2022. With over a decade of experience in veterinary medicine, she is a Certified Veterinary Assistant and holds a Fine Arts degree with a Business minor from Frostburg State University.

Rachael is passionate about team development and ensuring every pet receives compassionate, individualized care. Outside of work, she enjoys cheering on her son at the baseball field, hiking, biking, and relaxing at home with her pets—dogs Wyatt and Georgia, and cats Marshmallow and Gracie. A proud cat lady, she believes there’s nothing better than a quiet moment with a purring feline and a cup of coffee.

Angela

Veterinary Assistant – Fear Free Certified

Angela joined MAVA in January 2023 with over 18 years of experience. She’s Pet CPR and Fear Free Certified and is studying both veterinary technology and canine behavior.

Her lifelong love of animals began in Eldersburg, rescuing wildlife and exploring nature. Angela is passionate about client education and patient advocacy. She’s worked as a vet tech, surgical tech, and kennel tech. Outside the clinic, Angela enjoys hiking, photography, and trying new vegetarian recipes.

Her home is full of furry friends: dogs Rooster, Indiana, and Molly; cats Ivy and Benny—each with their own personality.

Nadia

Veterinary Assistant

Nadia joined MAVA in September 2024 and is currently studying to become a credentialed veterinary technician. With previous experience at a clinic that treated dogs, cats, and exotics, she brings a strong foundation and eagerness to learn. Nadia enjoys the supportive team environment and the chance to build personal connections with patients and clients. Her favorite part of the job is seeing her skills grow while helping pets feel their best.

At home, she’s kept on her toes by her two energetic German Shorthaired Pointers and her guinea pigs, Tess and Daisy.

Andrew

Veterinary Assistant

Andrew joined MAVA in December 2023 after graduating from Virginia Tech with a degree in Environmental Science. His interest in animals began with coursework in college and grew into a career passion. This is his first role in veterinary medicine, and he enjoys learning every day while supporting patient care. Before joining the clinic, Andrew interned with the Chesapeake Bay Foundation and held various jobs that honed his work ethic.

He’s an avid hockey player, gym-goer, and sports fan. At home, he spends time with his best buddy, Samson, a lovable English Cream Golden Retriever.

Chelsea

Receptionist/Veterinary Assistant

Chelsea has been part of the MAVA team since 2021 and brings over 10 years of experience. She studied veterinary science at South Carroll High School and Carroll Community College and is a Certified Veterinary Assistant. Her background includes general practice, emergency medicine, and mobile units. Chelsea values building relationships with clients and making sure every pet receives compassionate care.

Originally from New Windsor, she enjoys horseback riding, shopping, and spending time with her daughter. Her pets include dogs Pixie and Louie, horses Abby and Dually, and her cat, Shadow.

Judie

Client Service Representative

Judie has been with MAVA since September 2021 and brings over 20 years of experience. Originally from Baltimore, she entered the veterinary field early and has worked in general, emergency, and specialty care. Her roles have included assistant, CSR, staff supervisor, and practice manager. Judie is known for her warm, welcoming presence at the front desk and her love of reconnecting with returning clients.
Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with friends, gardening, reading, and relaxing on her deck. She’s a proud mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, and shares her home with three quirky cats: Little Man, Oliver, and Chance.

Tina

Veterinary Assistant

Tina has been a valued member of Mount Airy Veterinary Associates for over 20 years. With extensive experience in patient care, surgery, and client communication, she has worn many hats and supported countless pets and families throughout her career. Known for her steady presence and deep compassion, Tina has long been a trusted resource for both the team and the animals in her care.
She is currently pursuing a new career in nursing but remains a dedicated part of the MAVA family. Outside of work, Tina enjoys quiet time, helping others, and cheering on her favorite football team.

Ashley

Veterinary Assistant – Fear Free Certified

Ashley joined MAVA in November 2023 with over 22 years of experience. A Maryland native, she’s also lived in Colorado and Pennsylvania. She’s currently enrolled at Penn Foster for veterinary technician training and holds certification in canine behavior. Ashley brings a thoughtful and joyful approach to patient care and values building relationships with clients and coworkers.

Outside of work, she enjoys cheering on her kids, spending time outdoors, and relaxing with friends. Her rescue dog Floki, a trilingual Aussiedoodle, is her loyal companion and one of the most intuitive dogs she’s worked with.
